Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news
Weather news well this week has been cool and windy, crops continue to look good and some of the produce at the Appleton fair looked fantastic.
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: the parish will be leading the services under the big top tent on the threshing bee grounds on Aug.30th. There will be joint services at 9 a.m. on Sept 7th at St John’s. The August 23rd service will be broadcast on Aug. 30th on KMRS 1230 AM at 11 a.m. or on the web
Kongsvinger will once again be serving meals in the steel building, St. John’s will have their sweet shop and the parish youth will again have the “pop shack” at the bee
Good shepherd Lutheran church news: there will be a welcome potluck dinner for intern Angel Scott and her family on Aug. 30th at the church. She will be serving part time at St John’s- Starbuck and Good shepherd-Morris.  Gladys Mungo, director of Haiti's Children Inc.; which is recipient of Sept. tithe; will also be present to talk about the org.
Other church news: St Charles (St. Theresia) –Herman will once again be manning the hamburger stand at the threshing bee this weekend
Feed my starving children packing event is returning to the MAES on Sept 1st and 2nd more info call the Morris E Free Church at 589-2808
Community news: some none- bee events this weekend including open house at rocking c ranch of Donnelly (59312 150th st) today (Saturday) from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. tickets available at the gate, $1 discount with a bee button and events at the place to be today (Saturday) include a bike ride leaving at 11:30 a.m. and returning about 4 p.m. for some fun and games with dj Durke playing and some rummage sales
 Pedersen and Starbuck funeral homes, warmly invites you and your family to a picnic of hope and healing on August 31st @ 5 30 p.m. at Pomme de terre park Main Shelter .Food and refreshments, will be provided please contact Pedersen funeral home at 589--3220, to reserve your place
Death notices: former Donnelly area resident Deloris Philip of Morris passed away on Aug. 20th
Merle Mathieson of Pequot lakes passed away on Aug 19th survivors include his niece Deb (Mark) Erickson and family of Donnelly.
The 50th annual Donnelly threshing bee or as we refer to it our family reunion is this weekend. Events start at 7 a.m. today (Sat.) with a pancake breakfast continues with events though out the day and concludes with a dance at the hall with pure country. Sun starts with an open air church service and concludes with cash drawing in the aft. Lots of activities both days horseshoe tournament, sawing, threshing etc. and many display and demonstrations on the grounds and in the school house and depot. Anyone is welcome to bring a display, do a demonstration, play, sing, etc.
There will be a work night on the threshing bee grounds on Sept 1st to take things down at 6:30 p.m. A reminder that any help during, or after the Bee is welcome
Our features this year are IH/Farmall and anything made in 1965, next year it will be John Deere.
The parade committee is looking for people who were born, married, graduated etc. in ’65 as well as any tractors, machinery, cars etc. made during that year to be in the parade on August 30th all you need do is show up Sun. aft and they will find a spot for you
Tractor pullers ,classic car show entries, demonstrators, exhibitors etc. are asked to use the south gate; no bikes or dogs (except service dogs) allowed on grounds; golf carts, atv’s etc. must be registered at the depot prior to use on the grounds, I do have my cart up there for use by handicapped individuals.
The HQ is the depot so if you need any help, info etc. just stop in and talk to whoever is behind the desk the ph. # for the depot is 247-3272

Extra: Tyler Busse of Appleton was a double winner (small car and small car modified.) in the demo derby in Morris; his grandparents are Verle and Della Dunn of Donnelly
Tate Brian Harstad and Alexis Hubbard were married on July 31st in Alexandria VA.   Tate is the son of Wendy Harstad and Steve Hanson of Rockford MN.  and Brian and Kelly Harstad of Delano MN, grandparents are Norma DeLong of Herman and George and Elaine harstad of Herman
I will have some results from the Morris fair in a later column a list of 4-h winners will be included in today’s issue of the m s-t too many to include here.
Past week swift county fair-Appleton, nhas services picnic, work night on the bee grounds, bbb, class of ’55 60th reunion
