Next edition Sept. 27th-Oct 3rd

Welcome another edition of the Donnelly news;
Weather news: after some cooler weather it has turned very nice this week. We had a nice rain on Sat aft.; some beans are being harvested in the area and corn cut for silage.
In St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: The St John’s fall fest is Oct 11th you can bring items for it to church anytime between now and the 10th.
Rev. Mary Dodgson our interim pastor for the past year has announced that she will be leaving that position on   Oct 15th.

MN DNR will have a meeting in Donnelly Oct 2nd.at city hall from 6-8 p.m. about fishing regulations in Cottonwood Lake
Oct 6th the city council and Rendsville 4-h will meet at 7 pm at the city and fire halls in Donnelly and the bookmobile will be in town at 3:30 p.m.
Steven’s county Genealogical society will meet on Oct 2nd at the West Wind Village room 108 at 1:30 p.m.
Community club meeting on Oct 13th at 7 p.m. at the city hall
Nancy Grossman of Battle Lake passed away on Sept 18th survivors include her sister Mary (Larry) Friesen of Donnelly. She was a classmate of mine so I attended her funeral at Assumption on Sept 22nd.
Former Donnelly resident Nancy Volker passed away on Sept 22nd a gathering and celebration of her life will be held today (Saturday) from 1-4 p.m. at the Erickson smith funeral home in Hoffman Survivors include her husband Kevin of the Herman/Donnelly area
The threshing bee royalty were part of the Applefest parade in Appleton on Sept 21st. I also took in some other events associated with Applefest, en route home I stopped to visit with Jim and Julie Busse at their farm of rural Holloway.

Jerry and Joan Kopacek were among those attending meetings at Luther Crest Bible Camp on Sept. 20th and District VFW at Madison on Sept 21st
On Sept. 20th I had an opportunity to visit with former Donnelly resident Dot Wolking at McCollar Jewelry in Morris. She and her two sons were in town for the St Mary’s centennial celebration; her family owned and operated Wolking Oil in Donnelly for many years. After visiting with her for a while Wally McCollar and I stopped into the old # 1 Southside during the St Mary’s supper where we had the opportunity to visit with his classmate Diane (Borman) Mahoney of Minneapolis. Later I toured the school and the history exhibit located in the gym.

Past week I attended the visitation and funeral for Marlys Geise, the meet and greet for Torrey Westrom at Detoy’s in Morris and the Faith Lutheran fall rummage sale and dinner.
