donnelly news

Next edition June 14th-20th
Welcome another edition of the Donnelly news; Mark and I want to wish our Dad’s a happy father’s day in Heaven.
Weather news: It has been sunny and mild most of the last week and most fields that can be planted are and most of the crop is up. However some heavy rains means that everything is very wet around here.
In St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: there will be joint services at Kongsvinger on June  15th, 22nd and St John’s on June 29th at 9 a.m. no bible study on the 15th and 29th. Note that services on the 22nd will be at Kongsvinger not St John’s as announced earlier
Good Shepherd news: Tue a.m. bible study will resume on June 17th at 10 a.m.
There will be a community Bible school on June 23rd-26th at Zion- Morris this year co-sponsored by Zion and Good Shepherd. Everyone is welcome more info contact either church
The all state Lutheran choir will be on tour throughout MN starting June 14th, they will be in Elbow Lake and Alexandria on June 15th the full itinerary is here: http://maslc.org/itinerary.html
Trinity Lutheran church Cyrus is sponsoring a gospel message every Wed eve through Aug 27th with speakers from “Minn. Youth Alive” at the venture arts center in Cyrus at6:45 p.m.

Community news: No little league games in Donnelly this year; however there will be women’s softball and horseshoe games
Two upcoming bridal showers at Kongsvinger: for Laura Wolff bride to be of Brian Ennen will be held on June 21st from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and a Post nuptial open house for David and Hannah (Hilton) Larson on June 29th from 2-4 p.m.   They were married on June 7th at Kong, His parents are Corrine Larson and Larry Tuffton and the late Elroy Larson grandmother is Bertha Larson
There will be an open house baby shower honoring the soon to be son of Scott and Mindy (Janachovsky) Schmidt, from 10 a.m. to noon today, (Saturday), at the home of Mark and Karen Janachovsky, 15763 510th Ave, Donnelly.  Grandparents are Milford and Janice Kaehler.

Stevens’ community humane society annual meeting will be held on 6/14 at 7p.m. at the Morris senior center.
Donald Opp of Morris passed away on June 4th survivors include his sister former Donnelly area resident Norma Osterman
Cyrus Jon Reed was born on May 28 at Stevens Community Medical Center, Morris, to Joshua and Jana Reed of Morris. Grandparents are Bob and Deb Danelz of Donnelly and Curtis and Patricia Reed of Moose Lake.

Shaylyn Johnson, Justine Huebner, Britany Cardwell, Mark Dunn and Beth Holland were some of the band students that were members of various groups that won awards at the large group festival held in Morris in March.
Sam Henrichs placed 3rd in her class in MN clay shooting championship in Alexandria
Becca Holland was named to the west central tribune all area team.
As delegates, Joan and Jerry Kopacek attended the VFW state convention in St. Cloud June 5-8. In route they stopped to visit Jerry’s cousin Marlene Meyer.
Our threshing bee royalty were part of the Cyrus Days parade on June 7th, after the parade I visited some with former Donnelly area resident David Jergenson. Mark & I attended the ice cream social in Donnelly and the famers’ market supper in Herman. After the social the community club had their monthly meeting as we continue making plans for the bee. In addition to the parade I also took in some other Cyrus Days activities over the weekend, and attended the Kiwanis talent contest at eastside park Ditto Hennen and her grandson preformed a piano duet in it.
Every so often I will stop into McCollar Jewelry for a visit with Wally he informs me that he is planning on having a 60th class reunion next year so if you are a member of the MHS class of ’55 or know somebody that is keep that in mind. He also informs me that he received a 20 gallon pin from the Red Cross not a 10 gal as I reported in an earlier column
