Welcome to another edition of the of the Donnelly news this week’s edition is dedicated to my dad who passed on Oct 31st 2005
Weather news:  for the first time in many months our area has been blessed with some substantial rains.  It rained almost continually for several days last week we had a nice weekend and as I am writing this on Tue eve it is raining again.  In my trip to Tracy and back I saw only one unharvested cornfield. Some farmers have held off on fall tillage because of the hard ground.

STJ/KONG News:  On Oct 28th there will be joint services with Holy Communion and confirmation at Kong at 11 am our confirmants are Britney Cardwell (Doug and Muriel) and Brady Jergenson (Rob and Peg)

GSLC news:  the ilt course on “discipleship”; from “the word at work” series; will continue at 10:30 am and will be repeated at 7 pm Wed. through Nov 21st. 
The deadline to return the shoeboxes for operation Christmas child is Nov 11th.
St Mary’s Catholic Church in Chokio is having their fall bazaar today (sat) from 9-1 pm at their parish center
Harvest party at Hosanna worship center on 0ct 31st from 6:30-8 pm more info call the church at 589-8807
Scandinavian heritage dinner and silent auction at first Lutheran Morris Nov 7th from 4-7 pm
The st co gen society will meet on Nov 1st at 1:30 pm at the library
Pauline Smith of Morris passed away on Oct 23rd her services are today (sat) @ 2 pm at first Lutheran church.  Survivors include her son Dick (Suzanne) Smith and their family

There will be an open house baby shower for Ryan and Jackie (Kill) Lair today from 10 a.m. to noon at First Lutheran Church. Instead of a card bring a children’s book. Grandparents are Mike and Rhonda Lair and Nick and Sandy Kill. Great-grandparents are Barb and Don Rilley, Kermit and Karen Stahn, Ruth and Jim Lair, and Jean and Ron Anderson. Great-great-grandmother is Marlys Alm

There will be a bridal shower for Jill Marie Thompson and Ryan Lee Winther on Nov. 3rd from 10-11:30 am at the Kong parish hall. 
Chevelle Ann Whittemore was born on October 5, 2012 at Stevens Community Medical Center, Morris, to Crystal Henrichs and Nathan Whittemore of Donnelly. Grandparents are Rollie and Debb Henrichs of Morris and Dave and Julie Whittemore of Donnelly. Great grandparents are Char and Ron Castor of Morris and John Charles and Lois Whittemore of Glenwood.
Congratulations to the Morris/c-a area fb team that recently finished an undefeated season and became wcc conf co-champs; Chandler Erickson and Tom Holland are members of that team. They begin playoff action tonight (sat) at Big cat stadium

The Morris/c-a girls’ vb finished the regular schedule in a tie for 2nd place; Beth Holland is a member of that team.
The c-a Jr. High vb team recently won the Morris tournament Brooke Gillespie is a member of that team
Savannah Aanerud was recently named performer of the week by the wcc in cross county
Joan and Jerry Kopacek with Helen Kill were participants in the Welcome ceremony for National VFW Auxiliary President Leanne Lemley who visited the Osakis VFW post. On the way home they stopped at the Starbuck nursing home to visit with some of the residents including Denny Anderson
Oct 13th Jerry and Joan Kopacek with Jessalyn Marshall traveled to Alexandria for the Luther Crest Bible Camp Annual meeting and stayed to participate in the afternoon’s Harvest Festival. The last activity of the day was a pumpkin pie eating contest. Jessalyn took 1st place in her category while Joan tied for 1st in hers.
Oct 17th Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the arc bazar at the Legion, in the eve we attended the ILT course at GS
Oct 18th William Jamerson (WilliamJamerson.com) gave a very interesting presentation on the CCC, in the evening a good crowd was on hand for the candidates’ forum at the Legion. 
Oct 19th a good crowd was on hand for customer appreciation breakfast at Willie’s sv
Oct 20th Mark McNally and I traveled to Tracy for the funeral of Amanda Pagel, her son Dan is the st co rep party chair.  In the aft a good crowd was on hand for the open house at west Pomme lodge. In the eve about hundred people attended the st co rep party fall fest at the old # 1in Morris
Oct 21st about 2,000 republicans gathered at the Lake Geneva bible camp for the freedom concert sponsored by the byberg for Congress campaign.
Oct 22nd I stopped to visit Bill Telkamp at his house in Morris in the eve a good crowd was on hand at Faith for the Morris community supper, afterwards I traveled to Donnelly for the Morris area school board meeting
Oct 23rd it was a case of “many hands make light work” as we made quick work of the job of planting more trees at gslc. Thanks to Dick Goldenstein for donating them.
Oct 24th Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the ilt program at gs in the a.m. in the eve several family and friends attended the statement of faith presentations at Kong
Nov 5th is Election Day most voters in the Donnelly area will vote at the Donnelly town hall

Next edition Oct 20-26th
Welcome to another edition of the of the Donnelly news
Weather news:  last week the weather went from hot to cold, in matter of a few days. This week it was the opposite with temps getting up to 70 on the 16th, the 17th brought some very welcome rain.  With the exception of a few isolated fields most farmers are done with harvest and are now busy doing fall tillage, ditching, tiling etc.
STJ/KONG News: there will be no ss or communion on Oct 21st, on the 28th, there will be joint services with Holy Communion and confirmation at Kong at 11 am
There will be a presentation of faith statements by the confirmants on Oct 24th at 7 pm at the Kong parish hall
The services will be broadcast on KMRS at 11 am on Oct 21st in memory of Julius and David Heinrich by Lillian heinrich

GSLC news:  a very timely seven week course on “discipleship”; from “the word at work” series; offered by the institute for Lutheran theology will continue at 10:30 am and will be repeated at 7 pm Wed. through Nov 21st.   No registration and no fees. Welcome awaits all, more info call the church at 585-6868 or Pr. Mike at 287-3218.  Be assured that missing one or more sessions will not affect your enjoyment of it.

Help is needed at the church on Oct 23rd at 10 am to help plant some more trees.

There will be an Open house @west Pomme Lodge (45572 140th st) Donnelly today (sat) from 1-5 pm. This is the former Perkins resort and LCW.
St co rep party will have a fall rally on Oct 20th at the old # 1 Southside lower level, 6:15 PM registration; 6:45 P.M. beef supper ;7:15 PM program. Marie Caroline Odegaard passed away on Oct 9th survivors include her daughter Betty (Ray) Kill of Donnelly and their family
Lois Bernice Fickes, of Herman passed away on Oct 9th survivors include her daughter Darlene (Bill) Volker and their family
Peter Golombiecki of Morris, passed away on Oct 12th survivors include his son; Dennis (Maxine) Golombiecki of Donnelly and their family
Jill Marie Thompson and Ryan Lee Winther are happy to announce their engagement. Jill is the daughter of Paul and Nancy Thompson of Herman.  Her grandparents are Glen and Gertie Werk.  Ryan is the son of Bob Winther of Herman and the late Virginia Winther. There will be a bridal shower for them Nov. 3rd from 10-11:30 am at the Kong parish hall.  If you would like to be on the shower committee call 246-3475
Mackenzie Smith won the girls cc meet at the wcc conference meet in Paynesville recently, she and Savannah Aanerud, who finished 12th, were among those who won all conf honors
A good crowd was on hand on Oct 11th for the candidate’s forum at the legion earlier in the day I attended the “someplace safe” event in the park
Oct 12th I attended the hfd fundraiser supper at the Hancock community center
Oct 13th about a dozen of us took a bus to the MN history center in st Paul sponsored by the Morris Library and the VLS
Oct 14th David and Jullete Jergenson and I attended the mlcpc banquet at hosanna worship center, later I visited Ruth Strand at her home in Morris

Oct 15th I attended the Ione Eul funeral at Assumption, her son Mike was a classmate of mine. He says some preliminary planning is underway for a 40th reunion next year.

Weather news:  the past week has been one of those we talk about in MN. Wed it was sunny and mild but by Thurs. it had done a 180 with strong winds and much colder temps that have continued to this date. Corn harvest is slowly winding down, the mountains of corn out at the Morris fairgrounds are a testament to the bumper crop farmers have had this year.
STJ/KONG News: The parish confirmation service event will be held today (sat) at churches united for the homeless in Moorhead and other places
Oct 14th is reclaim sun, there will be no ss or communion on the 21st, confirmation will be on the 28th, with joint services with Holy Communion at Kong at 11 am
The raffle committee is looking for donations for the annual raffle Kong fall fest on Nov 18th.  You can call 589-1195 or 246-3405 with items to donate

McKenzie Smith won the girls 4 k race at the Benson/ kms invitational recently
Callista Kill won 2ND place at the fire poster contest in the 4th grade
The st co county gen soc. met at the library on Oct 4th the final meeting of the year will be held on Nov 1st.  We decided that in our non-meeting months we would hold workdays in the gen soc. room in the library

Many friends and relatives attended the visitation at the funeral home and the funeral for Edna Mau at Kongsvinger on Oct 4th and 5th.  If you were unable to attend you can watch the video tribute on line now at http://www.pedersenfh.com.
There are videos of several recent funerals posted on line so I assume hers will be soon to.
The threshing bee royalty were part of the Morris area school’s homecoming parade on Oct 5th
A good crowd was on hand for the st J fall festival on Oct 6th in Donnelly; afterwards I traveled to the Mark Papesh farm for their solar tour; returning to Morris I visited Gary weirs at his apt in the green river apts.; in the eve a good crowd was on hand for the 4-h awards show at the ag country auditorium in the wcroc hq. Rendsville 4-h club won the community pride award many of their members also won individual awards too many to list here. A list of winners and pictures of the event will be published in the --- edition of the Morris sun-Tribune
Rendsville 4-h is celebrating its 80th birthday this year there are two new members this year Callista Kill (Joe and Julie) and Ryan miller (Jason and Julie)
Oct 7th I travelled to Ortonville to attend the mccl fall tour
Oct 8th the Donnelly community club had their last meeting of the year as we put the wraps on another very successful year esp. including the best threshing bee in some time.  A reminder that next year’s bee will be held on Aug. 24 and 25th; and the feature will be gas engines.
A reminder also to check out the bulletin board on the north edge of the park in town during the coming weeks for various events such as the Dfd turkey bingo, Santa’s annual visit etc.

Oct 10th Jim and Lou Eystad attended the first ilt course as gs in the am; in the aft I attended the anniversary celebration at the drop in center in Morris
Wednesday [10th] Helen Kill, Jerry and Joan Kopacek visited Lorraine Oleson and Marvel Wagner at Good Samaritan Home in Hoffman. Marvel said to say “Hi!” to everyone.
Gayle and Jenna Gibson and Laurie Haufer spent some time over the weekend attending the st j fall festival and visiting family and friends in the area

Welcome to another edition of the of the Donnelly news
Weather news: the weather has been fairly warm and mild during the last week. Farmers continue to make rapid progress in getting the crops in and I would suspect that by the time you read this column many will be either done or close to it.  Everything I have heard indicates it has been a bumper crop and dry enough that not much drying is needed.
 STJ/KONG News: The St J fall fest will be held today (sat) at the church.  There will be a rummage & bake sale, raffle, lunch etc.
The parish confirmation service event will be held on Oct 13th .They are collecting gently used clothing ,household and personal care items for churches united for the homeless in Moorhead and other places.  Items may be dropped off at the parish office until Oct 10th.

 The block part that was held in Donnelly a couple months ago raised about $1500 for the st co food shelf

Edna Mau of Donnelly passed away on Oct 1st; survivors include her children Mike, Maynard, Muriel and Marilynn and their families. Her husband was the late Mark Mau.
Tony Baker of Debs MN passed away Sept 27th survivors include his daughter Rhoda (Keaton) Lange
Landon Strand was elected secretary treasurer of the H_N student council recently
The Morris -c-a girls cc team competed in the mega meet in Milaca  ,the Ortonville ,& the Monte invitational’s ;McKenzie Smith finished 7th in Milaca and won the Ortonville and Monte meets, Savannah Aanerud finished third in Ortonville
Madison Wevley is a member of the M-CA C volleyball tournament that won the B-B-E tournament recently
The new Habit House at 500 E 5th st was dedicated on 9/27. Matthew and Alisha (Wevley) Gramith and family are busy moving into their new home.
On Sept 28th I stopped at the green rivers apt to visit Vedar Harstad
Sept 29th I traveled to starbuck to attend their Eple Tiden festival. Enroute home I stopped to visit Rev and Mrs. Norm Olsen at their farm place
We salute area 4-h er’s during 4-h week most Donnelly area kids belong to the Rendsville 4 – h club
Sept 30th I visited Jack Fuchs at his home in Morris
Oct 1st the st co rep party central cmte met at Detoy’s, tentative plans were made to have a fall rally later this month
Steve Fults and I attended the candidate’s forum at UMM on Oct 2nd.
 Jim and Low Eystad and I were among the many form the area who turned out for the Ed botcher benefit on Oct 3rd at the old # 1 Southside

The Sullivan brothers have purchased the Catholic Church building in Donnelly.
