.Next edition Nov 26th-Dec 2nd Welcome to another addition of the Donnelly news Weather news Mother Nature gave us a sneak peek of what is to come on sat when we had several inches of snow accompanied by some strong winds that made travel difficult. Temps warmed up some on Sun and roads were much better. St J/Kong parish news: There will be no ss on Nov 27th it will resume on Dec 4th The parish will be collecting nonperishable food items for the food shelf during the month of Nov. carts are located in the narthex of both churches for you to drop your items off or you may also make a cash donation and put it in the offering plate or mail or drop it off at the parish office. The 7 & 8th grade confirmation classes in conjunction with Dakota ranch are again selling jars of honey. If you wish to buy one contact a member of the class or the parish office for details, the honey will be shipped directly to person you chose The parish will once again be sponsoring a hat and mitten tree for the SA northern division. Items needed are hats mittens, scarves games puzzles etc. contact the parish office for a full list. The deadline is Dec 13th GSLC News: there will be no more adult forums or bible studies until next year Advent services will be held at the church beginning with a supper at 5:45 pm and services at 7 pm beginning Nov 30th and continuing through Dec 21st. Callan Charles Erickson (Adam and Katie) was baptized at Kong on Nov 20th. His sponsors were Dan Erickson, Amy Bratten and Shawn and Julie Petersen There will a Christmas sing a long at the Eden Reformed church in Herman on Nov 27th at 6 pm. Sonny Bartell asked me to encourage more people from the Donnelly area to attend. There will be an open house 80th birthday for Arven Graff at the prairie Inn of Morris on Nov 26th from 1-3 pm. Everyone welcome no gifts please. A time to remember will be held at the Pedersen funeral home on sun Dec 4th at 4 pm There will be an open house baby shower for Ethan Charles Sperr, son of Adam and Michelle (Horning) Sperr Saturday, Nov. 26, 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Don and Tamela Sperr’s home, 46592 208th St., Morris (far end of 7th st).Addition: His great grandparents are Paul and Betty Sperr, Carolgene and Ed Wolf-Matthiesen of Ypsilanti, N.D., and Roger and Nancy Horning of Chokio and Lavonne Anderson of Yuma AZ. Help the family of Jan and Roland Greiner celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, Nov. 25, by showering them with cards sent to their Donnelly address (13842 st hy 9) The red hatters will meet at a place to be in Donnelly on Dec 5th at 1 pm, the city council and Rendsville 4-h will meet at city hall and the fire hall @ 7pm. The red hatters will also have their annual Christmas party on Dec 12 @ 1 pm at Hazel Asmus home in Herman pot luck lunch drink provided. The st co republicans will have a meeting on Dec 5th at 6:15 pm at Detoy’s in Morris On Dec 3rd the st co historical soc will have their annual holiday open house at the museum and The Morris sr. citizens will have their annual bazar at the sr. center. Both events begin at 9 am Naomi Jean Lesmeister was born October 21, to Nick and Tabatha Lesmeister of Tyler, Texas. Grandparents are Jerry and Jane Lesmeister, Morris, and the late Jeanne Lesmeister, Jim and Tammy Anderson of Tyler, Texas. Great-grandparents are LaVerna Lesmeister of Morris and the late Jim Lesmeister, Shirley Anderson of Donnelly and the late Richard Anderson and George and Ione Gray of Jamestown, N.D. Gloria Buntje of Ivanhoe formerly of Donnelly passed away on Nov 19th. She was a tel operator in Donnelly in the mid 40’s. Funeral services are pending Congratulations to Brad and Brooke Gillespie and Chandler Erickson who made the honor roll at C-A H.S. and to Tara Flaten who did the same at Hancock H.S. Pearl A. Anderson and I attended the holiday open house at Willie’s sv on Nov 17th, later Wally McCollar and I, were among those who enjoyed the music of umm choir concert at cc mall. In the eve the threshing bee royalty were among those who participated in the parade of lights. UFMSB was one of the winners in the parade. The Donnelly hall was packed with bingo players on Nov 18th, local business and individuals graciously donated over 120 turkeys for the occasion. It was also an opportunity to showcase the new tables purchased by the Donnelly rod and gun club. Thanks to them for doing that. Chester Larson won the grand prize. Geo and Shirley Libbon and I were among those who braved the roads and weather to attend the memorial service for Verna Rinkenberger at our Savior’s Lutheran church in Chokio on Non 19th. Many of you will remember that she spent over 50 years exhibiting in almost every category open to her in the garden and crop division of open class at various fairs. At the memorial gathering I said I still think of her every summer when I go into the open class buildings at area fairs and they have not been the same since her health no longer permitted her to do that. Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the new member sun services at gslc on Nov 20th and later the fall festival at Kong, on Nov 22nd I visited Denny Anderson at his home in Donnelly My farmland is now officially for sale; please see the ad in this week’s paper for more info. Since the weather put a damper on my plans to continue my yard sale on sat I am going to plan to be around for a while this aft (sat)to continue it and leave things up for another week or. Due to the thanksgiving holiday I have an early deadline next week wed at 1 pm so please keep that in mind if you have news for me. I will check my boxes on Tue. aft Since this is thanksgiving week I want to say “mange takk” (many thanks) to all my loyal readers out there that have made my column a successful one over the past several years. Weather news: a few snow flurries in the air on the 15th are a reminder that old man winter is just biding his time before arriving here. With the exception of the 11th which was a really nice day most days have been fall like with cool temps and some cold winds St J/Kong parish news: The Kong fall festival will be held Nov 20th beginning at 11 am at the church (3 miles north of Donnelly) the menu will feature pork chops, hot dishes, and salad. There will also be baked goods for sale including lefsa as well as various raffle items ranging from cash to homemade items, if you want a ticket talk to me or somebody from the church. The parish will be collecting nonperishable food items for the food shelf during the month of Nov. carts are located in the narthex of both churches for you to drop your items off or you may also make a cash donation and put it in the offering plate or mail or drop it off at the parish office. Thanksgiving eve services will be held on Nov 23rd at Kong at 7pm with fellowship to follow GSLC News: New member Sun will be Nov 20th. Following services there will a forum on the Augustana dist. of the Lcmc. Due to preparations for children's ss program this will be the last forum or bible study until Jan. There will also be thanksgiving eve services at gs on Nov 23rd at 7 PM Advent services will be held at the church beginning with a supper at 5:45 pm and services at 7 pm beginning Nov 30th and continuing through Dec 21st. World Mission mart will be held at the federated church in Morris today (Sat) beginning at 9 a.m. There will a Christmas sing a long at the Eden Reformed church in Herman on Nov 27th at 6 pm. The Morris E Free Church will be a relay center for the Operation Christmas Child Program (Samaritan’s purse) through Nov 20th. For home deliveries or to rsvp call 677-3374 Most Donnelly business will be closed on Thanksgiving Day check with individual businesses for what their schedule will be for the weekend The Don and Tammy Sperr home of Morris will be one of the homes featured in the Morris post prom tour of homes will be held today (Sat) from 1-5 pm, tickets can be purchased at any of the homes. Lillian Moen of Glenwood passed away on Oct 22nd; family members that survive her include her daughter Judy (Glen) Henrichs and their family Braeden Lee Huebner was born on November 1, 2011 at Stevens Community Medical Center, Morris, to Brent and Jackie Huebner of Morris. Grandparents are Gary and Karen Huebner of Elbow Lake and Karen and Joel Vold of Hallock and Mark and Natalie Otterson of Warroad. Ava Karisue Gramith was born on October 27, 2011 at Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris, to Matthew and Alisha Gramith of Morris. Grandparents are Ron and Sue Wevley from Donnelly and John and Kari Gramith of Norwood Young America. Great grandparents are Esther Wevley and Elizabeth Ascheman from Morris. Ethan Charles Sperr was born to Adam and Michelle Sperr on Nov 2nd. Grandparents are Don and Tammy Sperr of Morris and Tom and Pearl Horning of Chokio, great-grandparents are Paul and Betty Sperr of Donnelly, , Carolgene Wolf, of Ypsilanti ND,. LaVonne Anderson of Yuma AZ. There will be an open house baby shower for Ethan on Saturday, Nov. 26, 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the Don and Tamela Sperr's home. 46592 208th St., Morris (far end of 7th St). Congratulations to Micah Aanerud who was recently elected as junior president of the stampede 4-h club After the Corey funeral on Nov 4th I stopped up to the Pullman house to visit with Selma Bruse in her apt. there Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the first business meeting of gslc on Nov 10th. Lavone Kloos and I were among those who attended the community meal at the sr. center on Nov 14th. On the 15th Dan and Lavonne Kloos and I were among those who attended the Thrivent seminar at the old # 1 in Morris. Jerry and Joan Kopacek attended the VFW auxiliary meeting there in the aft. My farmland is now officially for sale; please see the ad in this week’s paper for more info. I am also going to continue my yard sale at my house here in town for about another week or so as well as my moving sale out on the farm. .Next edition Nov 12-19th Welcome to another addition of the Donnelly news Please remember that if you planning on putting news in one of my "mailboxes" please do so by Tue eve. I would prefer that you get news to me via other means (e-mail, phone, mail etc.) by then too but I will accept any news until mid-aft Thur. Weather news: Most days during the past week have been sunny with fairly mild temps but some cold winds are a reminder of what is to come. Most farmers in the area are done for the year. I talked to a former neighbor last night and he said the crop yields were “fair” this year. St J/Kong parish news: there will be a lefsa making day today (sat) at 9 am at Kong in preparation for the fall festival on Nov 20th where they will be sold. The festival will feature hot dishes and salad and will start at 11 am. There will also be baked goods for sale as well as various raffle items ranging from cash to homemade items, if you want a ticket talk to me or somebody from the church. Reclaim worship with Holy Communion will be held on Nov 13th at both churches. The parish will colleting nonperishable food items for the food shelf during the month of Nov. carts are located in the narthex of both churches for you to drop your items off or you may also make a cash donation. Fred Kill of Morris passed away on Oct 31st among the family members that survive him are a nephew Ray (Betty) Kill and their family of Donnelly. They and I were among the family and friends who attended his visitation at the funeral home on Nov 4th. Adolph Long of Morris formerly of the Donnelly area passed away on Nov 5th. Lowell and Sandy Dunn and I were among the many family and friends who attended his visitation at the Pedersen funeral home on Nov 8th. Alvin Rathke of Hoffman passed away on Nov 9th; among the family members that survive him. Is his son Warren (Delores) Rathke and their family Kaden John Wilkinson was born on September 13, 2011 in Fargo, N. D. to Jerad and MaryBeth Wilkinson. Grandparents are Rob and Kathy Kopel of Donnelly and John and Lorna Wilkinson. Congratulations to c-a junior high knowledge bowl that ties for first at a meet in Fergus recently. Brooke Gillespie is a member of that team The St co Gen society had their last meeting of the year on Nov 3rd at the library. We decided to buy and donate the book "life in the U.S. military" by Don Koffman to the library in memory of Fred Kill. His wife Helen is our VP Jack Fuchs and I were among the overflow crowd that filled Bethel Lutheran and its basement for the memorial service for Milt Corey on Nov 4th The computer lab at the Briggs library at umm was full on Nov 5th for the genealogical workshop on anscetory.com and familytree.com led by Peter Bremer. Andy Brevig and I were among those attended the St co rep meeting at Detoy's on Nov 7th. The next meeting is scheduled for Dec 5th. It was decided that we would hold our precinct caucuses at the Legion next year a reminder that I am having a yard sale today (sat) beginning at 9 am at my home in Morris at 11 e 9th St (in back of the Morris co-op feed shed) see the ad in last week’s paper for details I also still have some items (farmhand loader, appliances etc.) for sale out on the farm if interested give me a call at 585-6435 or 288-8692

This week’s edition is dedicated to the memory of my Dad who passed away Oct 31, 2006 and my aunt Mabel Van Olst who passed away on Nov 10 2002 Weather news: cool cloudy weather means that fall is definitely here. As expected fall harvest and fieldwork is pretty much done for the year around here a few farmers are still out doing some ditching. tiling and other odd jobs STJ/KONG parish news: St J will have their beef supper on Nov 8th beginning at 4:30 pm. tickets will be available at the door no advance sales this year. The Kong fall festival will be held on Nov 20th, with a lefse making day on Nov 12th at 9 am. The Nov newsletter is now out; extra copies are available in the narthex of both churches Kong has choir gowns to give away if interested contact the parish office During Nov the parish will be collecting nonperishable food for the st co food shelf GSLC news: the first ever business meeting of the church will be held on Nov 13 following services with a potluck dinner to follow Faith Lutheran will have a meatball supper on Nov 9th at the church The Morris life care center will have an Italian dinner and silent auction on Nov 6th at the Assumption Catholic Church beginning at 4:30 pm free will donation The dfd annual turkey bingo will be held on Nov 18th at the town hall beginning at 7 pm The bank and the po will be closed on Nov 11th due to Veteran’s day. There will be an open house baby shower of Callan Erickson son of Adam and Katie Erickson will be held today (sat) at the Morris sr. center from 1-3 pm The ducks unlimited banquet will be held on Nov 16th at the armory in Morris beginning at 6 pm for tickets and more info call Doug cardwell at 246-3293 Lillian K. Pariseau, Altoona, Wis. Formerly of Donnelly passed away on Oct 27th, among the family members that survive her are her sisters Evelyn Kopel and Lou (Eddie) Kopel of Donnelly and their families. Committal services were held at St Theresia’s cemetery in Donnelly on Nov 2nd with lunch afterwards at the Eddie and Lou Kopel farm. Milton Corey of Herman passed away on Oct 31st. among the family members that survive him are his step grandson Nick (Laura) Lehman and their family. He and his family have raised Belgian horses and they have been a fixture in the threshing bee and other area parades for some 35 years. Congratulations to MaKenzie Smith who earned a trip to the state cc meet by finishing 5th in the girls section 6A meet. She will be competing in the meet today (Sat). Congratulations to the Chris Athey sb team that finished 2nd in the tri county traveling sb league. Members of that team include Chris Athey, Alex Erickson, Justin and Paul Daly and Luke Schmiesing. Congratulations to Barry Erdahl who was the winner of pork bundle from KMRS Oct 26th I visited my aunt Pearl A. Anderson in her apt in Morris. Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the forum on the new reclaim hymnal led by PR Norm Olsen at gslc on Oct 30th. Corrine Kruize and I attended the genealogy workshop at the schs on Oct 29th, later I travelled to Hancock for the expo sponsored by the Spanish club. Due to an unexpected last minute commitment I was late getting to Donnelly on Oct 31st, by then the Halloween party was pretty much over. However I could tell that the threshing bee royalty and their families had again put a lot of time, work, and effort into organizing and putting it on so a big thank you goes out to them for doing that. Steve Fults and I attended the "your government, your taxes" forum at the sr. center in Morris on Nov 1st. Henning and Craig Awsumb and I were among the many from the area that attended the lutefisk supper at First Lutheran on Nov 2nd. It was very good. Many people still talk about the ones we used to have out at Kong at our peak we were serving about 1500 people that came from many miles away to attend it.
